The Child and Family Institute of Fairfield County provides liaison and advocacy services to school systems, community agencies, and daycare facilities to ensure that clients are receiving the appropriate educational services and care. These services include the following:
- School and daycare observations
- Attending planning and placement team meetings to advocate for students’ educational rights
- Assisting educators in developing individualized educational plans and school behavioral plans
- Attending 504 meetings to assist educators in developing modifications and techniques to enhance students’ learning
- Providing case management, coordination of treatment and discharge planning through collaboration with community agencies
- Attending meetings with juvenile probation, adult probation, DCF, system of care
- Providing training and consultation to participants’ schools to increase educators’ knowledge and expertise in teaching the student with mental health issues
